Having just taken over as the owner of Twitter , Elon Musk is already mired in a host of controversies (to which he seems to be addicted). A few days ago, the businessman stirred up controversy by announcing his intention to charge $20 a month for verified Twitter accounts .

Musk now says account verification will be available to Twitter Blue subscribers for “just” $8 a month. “Twitter’s current lords and peasants system of seeing who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people!” the Tesla CEO tweeted.


The $8 per month that Musk proposes for verified Twitter accounts will, however, be subject to variations in the different countries where the social network is present depending on their purchasing power.
