The full stop (or “ full stop ” in British English) marks the end of declarative sentences. It is also used to denote abbreviations, although the exact practices vary slightly between American and British English, and to show decimal places less than 1:

I have class early on Mondays .

The sandwich combo costs $5.99. (The sandwich combo costs US$5.99.)
In British English, in the second sentence, abbreviations in which only the middle letters have been removed are not marked with a full stop. Because of this, “Mr and Mrs” does not have a full stop in British English.
