The team formed by Kiki Holshuijsen and Francisco Pascual , from the Officer & Gentleman agency , has been the winner of Young Lions Digital 2024 , the competition for young creative talents promoted by Cheil Spain and represented by SCOPEN , where the winners get a direct pass to represent Spain in the Digital category of the Cannes Lions International Festival this year.
The contestants had to present a creative, innovative, realistic and technological proposal to a very specific briefing: unwanted loneliness , which refers to loneliness that negatively affects an individual's mood and is caused by their lack of connectivity with the environment in which they find themselves. In total, more than 50 teams from different sectors presented their ideas, but only 7 reached the final phase of the competition: the presentation of their proposals to a jury of experts made up of 10 professionals from the sector .
«The Young Lions Digital competition is an opportunity for young talents from Spain to achieve international representation. In this competition we have seen a great creative level that demonstrates the value of our ideas and the interest in creating projects where creative innovation is the protagonist. In addition, this 2024 we have had the pleasant surprise that participation has increased by 15% compared to last year, which reflects the interest of young people in projects like this one», explains Alejandro Di Trolio, ECD of Cheil Spain and jury of the competition.
The finalists' session was held at the centrally located Urso Hotel in Madrid , where the shortlisted teams had five minutes to convince the English-speaking jury of the potential of their idea. The winning team presented Silence Assistant , a project that transforms the virtual assistant on Samsung smartphones into a mental health tool that listens to silence to identify the user's loneliness.
This year's Young Lions Digital challenge was to develop a creative idea that would help break down barriers for those most affected by unwanted loneliness - young people aged 22-27.
Kiki Holshuijsen and Francisco Pascual are now Spain's representatives in the international Young Lions Digital competition at the Cannes Lions International Festival, which will be held in person from Monday 17 to Friday 21 June 2024. "It is an honour for us to represent Spain at the Cannes International Festival and to have the opportunity to give visibility to our work, which we love because it has the potential to help many people.
