Simone: “Our community wants to facilitate sustainable doers in contributing to the promotion of the sustainability of society (the mission of ASN Bank). It is therefore a place where everyone can bring his or her project to the attention and let others join in (network site). With the ASN Bank World Award, the bank annually encourages sustainable doers. They can participate with a project that is enterprising, innovative and creative, and has a major impact on society.”

Some topics on the site have a lot of responses, others have few or none at all. “That’s right,” Simone answers. “I don’t have a clear explanation for that. I think a topic like ‘against child labor’ appeals more to the imagination: almost everyone has an opinion about that.”

How was it ensured that this process was supported internally by colleagues and management? “The organization lives by learning by doing, ” Simone answers. “We wanted to use crowdsourcing to see how a dialogue with our target group can be conducted online. You can make endless plans, but sometimes you just have to do it. That is the basis for our broad use of social media. The use of crowdsourcing is an extension of that. And from the start, it has also been a multidisciplinary action that ties in with the bank's mission to promote the sustainability of society.”

In order to ensure that the advisors involved responded qatar phone data promptly and appropriately in discussions, good and clear agreements were made in advance. “Every response gets a response from us,” says Simone. “And every response is answered by the sustainability advisor within a day. The tone of voice had to be constructive at all times.”

Future plans
What would ASN do differently next time? “We noticed that the sustainable partners we work with were happy to think along with us. They created an extra support base for our crowdsourcing and could have been involved in the process earlier,” says Simone.

Although ASN has benefited greatly from the process, crowdsourcing is not high on the agenda for the near future. There are other priorities: “We are currently working on the implementation of the bank's social media strategy,” says Simone. “In that strategy, we are looking at how we can structurally embed dialogue in the organization. We certainly realize that we do not want to and should not crowdsource everything. The what's in it for them must always be present.
