Airbnb, the marketplace for publishing, discovering and booking private homes, is determined to make its presence felt in China , and for this reason it has just launched a new name in the Asian market: Aibiying (something like “welcome with love” in Chinese).

With this new name, the American company hopes to boost its visibility and presence in the Chinese market. Coinciding with this renaming, Airbnb has also announced the introduction of “Trips” (a feature that offers the marketplace’s customers suggestions for enjoying local experiences) in China.

Like many other Silicon Valley startups , Airbnb sees China as a huge opportunity for growth. However, the Asian giant has recently proven to be a tough nut to crack for new companies from the West.

While Airbnb will not have to deal mexico phone data with censorship in the Asian country, it will have to deal with established domestic rivals in China such as Tujia and Xiaozhu.com.

That Asian competitors should not be underestimated at all has already been amply demonstrated by Uber , which threw in the towel in China a few months ago and merged with its main local rival, Didi Chuxing.

With its newly launched rebranding, Airbnb hopes to better connect with Chinese travelers, particularly millennials , in order to accelerate its growth in the Asian giant.

To date, more than 5.3 million Chinese travelers have used Airbnb to find accommodation . In addition, 80,000 local listings for Chinese properties have been published on the platform.

To boost its growth in China, Airbnb will increase its workforce in the Asian country, from 60 to more than 180 employees. In addition, the Californian startup plans to double its investment in this country throughout this year.
