The Complaints Portal received 943 complaints from consumers related to credit cards and payments. Between January 1 and July 15 of this year, there was a 130% increase compared to the same period last year, when only 404 complaints were registered.

According to the analysis carried out by the largest consumer social network in Portugal, from the beginning of the year until July 15, general complaints related to credit cards and payments doubled compared to 2020, an increase that was transversal to all entities included in this category ( Universo Card, WiZink Card, Revolut Card and Cyrana Card ).
This year, the main warning is the exponential increase in complaints related to phishing , and the losses caused by the alleged lack of security in the use of credit cards .
The analysis reveals that, after the high number of cases identified with the Universo Card – which resolved around 80% of the complaints registered on the Complaint Portal -, the WiZink Card is the most recent target of these fraud schemes.
