A report said at least half of organizations suffered a cyber attack and some had to pay ransoms.

Cybersecurity errors can cost companies millions of euros and thousands of lost records . These errors occur because cybercriminals take advantage of three major factors that they are capable of breaching.
According to IBM Security's sixth annual Cyber Resilient Organization Study , published in 2021, which was based on a survey of more than 3,6000 IT and security professionals worldwide, 54% suffered a data breach.

The vulnerability is believed to have cost them the loss or theft of more than 1,000 records containing confidential or sensitive customer or business information in the last 12 months. According to the Cost of Data Breach study , data breaches cost companies an average of USD 1.82 million per incident in the region, the highest cost in the history of the report.

However, IBM noted in its report that the biggest security challenge today is not directly architect database related to the technologies themselves, but to the disconnected strategies and technologies used for protection.

In this regard, he points out that traditional security models are not designed for technological transformations , which must also migrate to the hybrid cloud , but rather on three mistakes that companies often make , which are:
-High technological complexity.
-Fragmented cybersecurity market.
-Having employees as the first line of defense.

Among those surveyed for the report, 61% said they had experienced an attack in the past two years and had to pay a ransom for their information. While 51% said their organizations had a specific response plan for ransomware and 46% said their organizations had experienced one or more ransomware attacks in the past two years.

On the other hand, 74% said they do not have a cybersecurity incident response plan that is applied consistently across the company. In contrast, only 21% said that organizations had planned cybersecurity activities that were being implemented or refined across the organization.

Other data indicates that only 31% of companies had adopted an extended detection and response (XDR ) approach, and of those, more than half said this strategy strengthened their resilience.
