Tip 3: Adapt your restaurants to the environment
If all goes well, you should already have a feel for the neighborhood and its residents before you expand. Are the people who spend a lot of time in the area young, do they eat out a lot, are they fans of food porn  ? Or are they more of an older business person who wants a quick bite? If you know who will be visiting your business frequently and what they want, you can tailor your service to their needs.

The Japanese concept Takumi has three locations where the service is adapted to the neighborhood. For example, their restaurant near Place Flagey is popular with young professionals and their restaurant on Place Jourdan welcomes a very international audience. Special formulas can change from one location to another given the differences in customer preferences.

For example, we notice that customers on Rue des Flandres are architect data fond of vegetarian options. Those on Jourdan particularly appreciate the special lunch offer.

Tip 4: Know what's going on around the new location
Make sure you’re up to date on all the events, trends and other activities surrounding your new location. Who knows, maybe now is the perfect time to launch a major campaign at that location, in conjunction with a regional event, to raise awareness of your new restaurant.

The founders of Bakers & Roasters coffee shop in Amsterdam — Julian Kirwan and Sergio Seibers — conducted extensive research before expanding. Julian:

You absolutely need a team, otherwise your expansion will not be successful. It is also important to have a good knowledge of your new market, the region and what is happening in your new neighborhood.
