Data Warehouse Features

Post by zihadhasan01827 »

The Data Warehouse is characterized by being:

Integrated
All similar data stored in a Data Warehouse must have a common unit of measurement established, that is, they must be integrated with a consistent structure. This helps with strategic and effective data analysis, so existing inconsistencies must be eliminated.

So, in other words, consistency in coding structure, naming conventions, attribute measures, among others, must be ensured.

Variant over time
Compared to operational systems, the time horizon is quite long in the Data Warehouse. This data storage contains a time element that can be explicit or implicit.

And, this information is used to perform trend portugal mobile database analysis and once the data is entered into the warehouse, it cannot be changed or updated.

Non-volatile
The data store is non-volatile, meaning that when new data is entered, previously entered data is not deleted.

Furthermore, the data is read-only so it cannot be modified, the information is updated periodically and is permanent, it does not require recovery processes, transactions or concurrency control mechanisms.

Subject Oriented
The data is organized by topics ( marketing , sales, purchasing, among others), to facilitate understanding and access for end users.

Data warehouses do not focus on ongoing operations, instead placing emphasis on data analysis and modeling for decision making.
