Google's new redesign, now for everyone

Post by kolikhatun099 »

Following its tenth anniversary, Google Chrome is celebrating in style with a redesign of the browser in an effort to satisfy and simplify the user experience. Chrome 69 is the new version that marks this new turning point.

The second version of Material Design

For those who don't know, Material general manager email lists Design is the name of Google's design system (yes, Google Design has a name) created by Chilean interface designer Matías Duarte.
Based on flat surfaces, colorful components, and different levels that are easy for the user to identify, the design forms a coherent visual system that we can associate with the brand. This is yet another example of the importance of graphic design in digital marketing .

After a strong and successful first version, Material Design 2 is proof of how Google wants to remain top of mind for Internet users. Remaining at the forefront of design cannot be ignored, especially when it comes to a digital product present in multiple formats and already used by 2 billion users.

Colours are refined, shapes are rounded and typography is improved in a personalised way; seemingly basic aspects that together define a fresher identity.

Let's rewind a bit and clarify some nomenclature. Google has a visual identity system that they call Material Design. This system already has a second version that, after several years of evolution and improvements, has allowed the development of a design template, Google Material Theme , with which all the elements that are part of the design of an interface (guides, compositions, fonts, colors...) make sense.

Of course, a well-crafted template must be coherent and flexible by definition, but we are talking about a global-scale template where multiple elements coexist (many of them interactive) and where complexity needs to be simplified.

Google's open source design system reflects what makes the internet giant unique. Details such as the use of white space (praised by a large number of designers), the four corporate colours or the famous Google Sans (now also revamped) coexist in an ecosystem perfectly created to adapt to any Google platform or product such as Gmail, Google Pay, Google Home or Google Chrome, to name just a few.

The best thing of all is that after this complex study, we can now all use this system to highlight our product or service and build digital experiences based on it, creating, as they say, a shared, expressive, flexible and unique brand experience.

Material Design provides users with documentation, tutorials, and development for different platforms such as iOS, Android, Web, and Flutter. It even offers its own tools to design in a more user-friendly way, such as icons, color palettes, galleries, and its own editor.

Without a doubt, Google continues to bet on minimalism and modular design focused on generating an excellent user experience, a user that ends up becoming millions of people around the world with whom the global browser has a great commitment.
From my most personal opinion: thank you Google for giving value to white in a virtual environment where red buttons reign everywhere.
