User Content (Unencrypted Components)

Post by badsha0016 »

While message content is E2EE, certain public-facing or non-message content is not, as it's necessary for the service to function:
Your profile picture, "About" information, and the names/descriptions of your communities and groups.
When you use AI features like @Meta AI within chats, your prompts and messages to the AI are processed by Meta to generate responses and improve AI quality. These specific interactions with the AI are not E2EE.
Messages, Media, and Calls (as handled by servers):

As described under E2EE, messages and media are temporarily stored encrypted on servers for delivery. Once delivered, they are deleted.
Call setup information (who called whom, when, duration) is metadata, but the call audio/video is E2EE.
Status Updates and Channel Content:

While Status updates are E2EE, the fact that you posted one, and metadata indonesia phone number list about it (e.g., timestamps), are collected.
For Channels, while they are not E2EE, the content you share, interactions (reactions, polls), and metadata about your usage are collected, similar to public social media content.

Precise Location Information (Optional and E2EE in Chat):
WhatsApp only collects your precise geographic location if you explicitly grant permission and use location-related features (e.g., sharing live location with contacts, viewing nearby businesses). When shared within a chat, this live location is E2EE.
Customer Support and Other Communications:
Information you provide when contacting customer support (e.g., text, documents, screenshots related to your issue).
User reports about other users or content for violations of terms of service.
Transaction and Payments Data:
If you use WhatsApp Pay or other commerce features (e.g., purchasing products from a business through a catalog on WhatsApp), information related to these transactions is collected (e.g., payment method, transaction details, shipping information).
