General Location Information: WhatsApp can infer your general location (e.g., country or region) from your IP address and phone number area code. This is not precise GPS location but still indicates your approximate whereabouts.
Precise Location Information (User-Shared): If you choose to use features that allow you to share your live location or send your current location to contacts, this precise GPS data is shared with those contacts. WhatsApp states that this precise location data, when shared in chats, is end-to-end encrypted, meaning they cannot see it. However, the act of sharing location is metadata.
Address Book Access: With your permission, WhatsApp accesses your uganda phone number list device's address book. This is done to help you identify which of your contacts are also on WhatsApp, and to help you invite those who aren't.
Hashing of Numbers: WhatsApp states that it "hashes" the phone numbers in your address book, meaning it converts them into a scrambled, irreversible code. It then uses these hashes to match with other WhatsApp users, rather than storing your raw contact list on its servers. However, it still processes and stores information about the existence of those contacts in relation to your account.
