The event was attended by the Minister of Education, Universities and Science and spokesperson for the Government of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Ossorio; and the General Director moj data of Regulation, Public Affairs and Sustainability of Orange, Luz Usamentiaga, accompanied by the director of the IES Luis Vives, Juan Carlos Morales.

GarageLab is an initiative of the Orange Foundation that aims to reduce the school dropout rate, increase student motivation and boost their academic results. It involves the total transformation of the educational process, starting in the classroom.

These spaces are developed and equipped with creative digital manufacturing technologies and tools. They are designed and built by the students themselves using participatory design and self-construction techniques, with the support of architecture and design professionals.

At the same time, a transformative methodology of the educational process is implemented that promotes different and meaningful teaching and learning, ultimately seeking the personal growth of the students.

The initiative is developed through a digital manufacturing environment and employing the 'maker' culture, whose application in the educational process has managed to reduce the school dropout rate by more than 13% and increased student motivation by more than 62%.

The programme provides centres with the training and equipment necessary to develop an innovative training proposal that transforms the teaching, learning and personal growth processes.

During the inauguration, Enrique Ossorio stated that "improving the quality of our educational system requires, in addition to intense dedication, constant innovation in all areas. We must ensure that all these innovative processes underway are at the service of equal opportunities for students, because education is the most powerful tool for personal and professional development and social mobility.
