[MONOLOGUE] 6 good practices for any freelancer

Post by jrine01 »

If you have decided to be your own boss (i.e. self-employed) you should be clear about the skills and good practices you need to be a good self-employed worker.
In this post I will try to make it clear to you what they are so that you can start assuming them as your own as soon as possible.
Complaining a lot, not having friends or constantly saying no are just some of them. Find out and see which ones you meet!
Inevitably, if you want to start your own business and be your own boss , sooner or later, you will have to register with the RETA or, in other words, the Special Regime for Self-Employed tokelau email list Workers. And yes, the regime is because you will spend the first years of being self-employed eating kikos and tranchettes in front of the computer screen. But well, that is not the point, the fact is that from the very moment you register, you will become the self-employed person you had always dreamed of ( dreamer ) and the manual nerd you had never thought of.

Because yes, my friend, being self-employed, besides the fact that you will not be able to see the light of day again (like vampires, orcs or computer scientists), implies acquiring certain vital skills that you will not be able to avoid in any way. All of them are an intrinsic part of the nature of the self-employed. You will end up falling into them in the same way that flies flock to honey or a pensioner is inexorably attracted to the construction of a roundabout.

Skills to be a good freelancer
Below, I'll give you a little spoiler of your future as a freelancer in the form of a list of the skills and good practices that are essential to being a genuine and good freelancer. If you try to resist, it will be worse. Seriously, trust me, you better start assuming them as your own as soon as possible, otherwise you'll have to pay a psychologist for not accepting yourself, and we already have enough to do with the quarterly VAT declaration . Here they are:

Complain a lot
Essential. If you don't complain, you can't be self-employed . But about everything, eh? About taxes , about quotas, about the fact that employees have holidays and you don't, about the fact that you never get sick and even about your own clients who don't leave you alone even at nine o'clock on a Sunday night. You can complain as much as you like, but it is advisable to do so at least twice a day, one complaint after each meal. Avoid complaining at all costs on an empty stomach, it can make you dizzy.

Not having friends
There is no time. It's that simple. Friends are a luxury for employees. If you are self-employed, you can have partners, colleagues and even a friend on Facebook or any other social network. This thing about friends in the flesh, in 3D, is not for us. The times that it has been tried have not worked out well because they are enjoying life and you are thinking about that email that you have to answer to the idiot on duty.

Constantly saying anglicisms
Or, to put it another way, being a textbook geek. Since the rest of society will see you as a lost and aimless being in the immensity of working life, you'll only have to occasionally throw out anglicisms to seem cooler and give some meaning to your existence. This behavior also helps freelancers identify with each other. Don't worry, you don't need to learn English , you just need to know a few words without necessarily knowing their meaning. Some recommended anglicisms are 'multitasking', 'engagement' or my favorite, 'maker', which in Spanish means "loser".

Learning Elvish Language
In addition to a few brushstrokes of English to be able to apply the previous point, it is also advisable to know the language that Tolkien invented to embellish The Lord of the Rings: Elvish. You will find it easier to understand than the jargon of our beloved Tax Agency and at least you will have a good time.
