Dollars and in percentage terms compared to previous years.

In Chile, during the second quarter of 2020, the growth in cash demand was around 16%, while in the last 12 months there was a 40% increase in the use of “Cuentas Corrientes” and 30% in “Cuentas Vista”.

In Mexico, the search for cash has increased by 8.26% since the end of 2019. At the same time, financial organizations have reported an increase in the adoption of digital payment methods.

Thus, the portrayal of the use of cash during the pandemic period came to reinforce the idea that, contrary to what is assumed, cash is still extremely relevant in Brazil, being vital for a large part of the population and also for the functioning of the sector and its various actors.

More than that, the scenario indicates that the innovation promoted in payment methods arrives to add and offer new possibilities, without detracting from the importance of cash in society.
