Graduated in International Relations from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM), with a focus on investor relations, Marília Robles talks about Sympla's work in institutional and governmental relations, as well as the use of the Inteligov platform in her daily life.
How did you get to the Relgov area?
I have always worked in Government Relations. I worked at the Arab Chamber of Commerce, then at Fiesp, working in International and Government Relations. After graduating, I started working at Stone Pagamentos, where I worked for two years. I really like technology, startups, and innovation, and there I experienced the trajectory of a company that was building a government relations area and I knew how important this area was for an acquiring market, which was growing a lot.
It was a very different type of relgov from what I do today, focused namibia mobile database on the Central Bank and Cade, so I entered relgov at the high level of the relationship – the one where there can be no mistakes at all. Stone was a new player in an extremely competitive market, with a strong presence of old companies and banks, and the company wanted a different approach.
Then, I had the opportunity to join Sympla and today I can say that I see absolutely everything about relgov, from the bidding process to understand if it is interesting for the business, to the relationship with councilors and chiefs of staff. We work at the federal, state and municipal levels, even in departments.
It's not something that common, but we have a lot of action at the municipal level, because a Bill that changes the way tickets are sold, or a PL that requires changes to a platform, for example, in a relevant capital, completely changes the business model.
With my background, I like to think that a good relgov professional is a generalist: they understand numbers, they understand branding to identify what the impact will be on the brand and the company. This makes things much easier. I like to think that I am always aligned with the business and can speak with authority – especially as a woman, talking to deputies and councilors, every time I empower myself and understand more about my sector, I feel more confident and can defend the sector as a whole.
